East County Little League

Skill Evaluations

2019 Skills Evaluations

East County Little League will host Skills Evaluations to evaluate all baseball and softball players (ages 7 and up) participating in the Upper Divisions (A, AA, AAA, and Majors). These assessments assist our managers in creating balanced and competitive teams each year. ECLL does not have property players. Attendance at one of the Skills Evaluation sessions is REQUIRED. There will be no Skills Evaluation for T-Ball or Farm. Note that the ECLL Board only oversees the evaluations and the draft. The managers choose their own teams.

All players must attend 1 of our 2 offered tryout dats in January 2019. Specific tryout dates TBA. Competitive baseball rosters are drafted by managers in early February. ECLL intentionally has league age overlap across the competitive divisions so that players are drafted more to their skill level as evaluated by the managers at tryouts rather than strictly based on league age.

WHAT TO BRING:

Gear: Players must provide their own glove/mitt and be properly attired. Close toe shoes REQUIRED.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Players will be divided by age group and will rotate through stations performing different drills. The stations include:

  • Athleticism/Speed/Agility
  • Hitting
  • Fielding
  • Throwing/Pitching.

Expect each session to last approximately 1 hour. Parents are encouraged to wait for players being evaluated rather than leaving and coming back. Depending on when the player is evaluated, they could be through the process in as little as 20 - 30 minutes. Please note that parents will not be allowed on the field or inside the assessment area.

Please direct any questions about the Skills Evaluation to playeragentbb@eastcountyll.org (Baseball) or playeragentsb@eastcountyll.org (Softball).

If your player is unable to make the evaluations, you must notify the league (playeragentbb@eastcountyll.org for Baseball or playeragentsb@eastcountyll.org for Softball). Players who do not attend one of the assessment days will be placed in a blind draw in the lowest possible division that player is eligible for based on their league age. This is to avoid "RINGERS" skipping evaluations in an attempt to be drafted to a specific team. Please contact the appropriate Player Agent if you have any questions.
